Ye, formerly known as Kanye hoodie, claims in a video posted by the celebrity news website X17 that he sells hoodies from Balenciaga, Adidas, and Gap for $20.
Ten employees can be seen stitching inside the former rapper-turned-fashion designer’s Los Angeles office. There are hundreds of clothing hanging on racks, tables, and all over the floor.
Many associate his “Ye24” campaign with West’s declaration that he will run for president once more in 2024. As the hoodies from the fashion companies are unbranded, it is still unclear if they are a part of this initiative or something else altogether.
I chopped up 100 sweatshirts from brands like Yeezy, Balenciaga, Gap, and Adidas, he said, adding that everything would cost $20. After Ye’s antisemitic remarks last month, the businesses have severed connections with him, with Adidas cutting its revenue projection for 2022 in half. Because it still owns the copyright and not Ye, the German sportswear manufacturer added that it would sell more Yeezy designs under its own Adidas trademark.
Ye explained the thinking behind the $20 hoodies:
“We must ensure everyone receives the same education, food, and water level.” West said, “We’re engineering opportunities; we’re moving past the past and concentrating on the future.
He also displays several recently created jackets in the movie, giving one to the cameraman before correcting him to his new name, Ye.
He said, “I see,” “It will take some time for us to update, and we must update collectively as a species. Everything has been so polarising; when people use the word “diversity,” they perceive it as a positive attribute, but this is the United States of America.”
Adidas declined to comment, while Balenciaga and Gap took some time to react to Insider’s request for comment.
